Sanz is a former staff member for U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar. Born in Mexico, he also previously worked as an ESPN-Mexico broadcaster. His campaign website lists his priority issues as border security, school choice, promoting economic growth with low taxes and fewer regulations, and term limits for politicians. In 2021, Sanz completed a batterer intervention course and did 12 hours of community service at a church after being arrested for assaulting a family member. The case eventually was dismissed.
