This is Gerardo Zambrano, an Aggie engineer from Texas A&M class of 1978. We have lived in San Antonio for 45 years .
With 3 children ( 2 , Graduated from UTSA and 1 from Texas A&M ) and 4 grandchildren (1 grad from Saint Edward’s, 1 a Junior at Texas A&M and 2 in elementary school)
Have worked in the Oil Industry and have over 20 properties in the medical center. Have been president of Aspen Village HOA for several years and now on the board.
In a field of 27 mayoral candidates, what differentiates you from the others?
Have never been involved in politics, but care much for the City of San Antonio growing extremely disorganized and with chaotic traffic. Needs an independent experience guidance to keep our younger generations here. The new Mayor have to be independent, not a contractor to the city or not from previous administration.
I have solid experience in project development, and contractor coordination to ensure guidance to City employees to work for our most needed communities.
Will bring back the Folklore to San Antonio and not only at Fiesta time, but all year as a Tourist City should be.
If elected, you would be taking over at a time when the city has spent more than a year negotiating a massive downtown redevelopment effort in Project Marvel. How would you approach this project? Do you support continuing as planned? Would you support using taxpayer funding for the project?
Will freeze the Marvel project till all citizens have been informed and will not allow any taxpayers funds to be used for it at all.
In the city’s 2024-2025 budget survey, residents ranked homelessness, streets, housing and animal care services among their top concerns for the city to address. Which issues do you consider a top concern and how would you work to address them in your first 100 days?
We have to rescue all homeless, work with mental institutions and city funds to get much-needed help to all.
The streets and surrounding areas of the city have to be cleaned, resurface and properly marked as big cities, on the streets for drivers to plan better directions.
There should not be any dogs lose at all. San Antonio animal care facility should be funded accordingly to take care of the rising situation.
San Antonio Airport expansion should be a priority and the city should be the second port of entrance for all South American flights, just behind Miami.
For the past four years San Antonio has worked closely with the Biden Administration on federally funded projects like airport development and Advanced Rapid Transit. How would you approach working with both state leaders in Austin and a new presidential administration in D.C.?
As a Mayor will get the new Federal administration to understand, San Antonio is the Mexico US Citizen want to visit.
Austin authority have to finished once and for all the never ending expansion of I-35 and get the city all necessary funds for a functional 1604 to aliviate traffic inside the city.
Will freeze property taxes to allow more affordable rent closer to downtown. And give incentives to developers for affordable housing in areas that bring new families closer and not away from the working places, trying to get away from very high property taxes in the city.
Will patronize centers, like the new San Antonio African American Community Activity Center for all. inviting the State Government to share these facilities as examples of San Antonio involvement to united all its citizens.
