Cory Carlyle previously served on the 5th Court of Appeals in Dallas. He started his career in Dallas County District Attorney’s Office, where he worked on DNA-based exonerations. Later he worked in Washington, D.C. providing indigent defense services on federal cases as a member of the Criminal Justice Act panel. He currently works in appellate law for a Dallas firm and is one of two Democrats seeking their party’s nomination to challenge Republican Chief Justice Jimmy Blacklock in November.
