Please tell voters about yourself.
I am a dedicated wife, mother, and active community member. Originally from San Antonio, I have had the privilege of residing in the Judson area for the past sixteen years. After stepping back from my career to focus on raising my children, I now work part-time, which allows me the flexibility to be fully present for my children and their school events.
My primary motivation for running is rooted in my advocacy for my own children. I have dedicated countless hours to researching the support they require to succeed and to ensure they receive the best possible resources. I have also made it a priority to attend every Judson district meeting, ensuring I stay well-informed on the district’s operations and decisions. My goal is to advocate for policies and initiatives that are student-centered and focused on meeting the needs of every child in the district. I am committed to ensuring that our schools continue to prioritize the success and well-being of students above all else.
List any previous experience in the community or in the education field, such as participation in parent teacher associations, local boards and commissions or neighborhood associations.
Although I have not run for office before, I have had the privilege of collaborating with community members throughout Judson. One of my most meaningful contributions was helping establish the Judson Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC), where I worked to educate and empower parents in advocating for their children. I also served as SEPAC’s President for the first two years. In addition to my advocacy work, I have gained valuable experience within the district as a substitute teacher, which has provided me with a deeper understanding of the needs and dynamics of our schools. I am also an active volunteer at my children’s school and a part of the PTO, participating in every event I can. While I did not originate the concept, I was proud to bring the Red Apple Club—a parent organization designed to assist teachers and staff with various tasks—to my children’s campus.
If elected, you’ll likely be facing a budget deficit and the possibility of funding hamstrung by the state. How would you approach these issues? Where should the district turn to save money if needed?
If elected, I will take a strategic and transparent approach to addressing budget challenges while prioritizing student success. First, I will conduct a thorough review of financial data and expenditures to identify areas of potential overspending or inefficiencies. Before considering drastic measures such as closing campuses or reducing staff, I will explore cost-saving opportunities in non-instructional expenses, administrative overhead and unused resources. Additionally, I will advocate for maximizing state and federal funding opportunities, seeking grants, and strengthening partnerships to support critical programs. My focus will remain on preserving essential academic services and ensuring that any financial decisions prioritize student learning and teacher support. By taking a proactive and data-driven approach, we can make informed decisions that maintain the quality of education while addressing budget constraints responsibly.
What do you think the district’s biggest challenges are in the coming years, and what should be the board’s top areas of focus?
Academic gaps in foundational reading skills impact all areas of learning, making early identification and intervention essential. Ensuring students receive the necessary support at critical stages will improve overall academic success. Additionally, concerns regarding bullying and discipline have been frequently raised. To address this, I will strengthen and expand each campus’s anti-bullying committee, fostering a safer and more inclusive environment for all students. As the population of special education and specialized student groups continues to grow, I propose forming a district-wide subcommittee composed of special education teachers, staff, and paraprofessionals. This group will provide valuable insight into current classroom needs and help drive meaningful improvements. Furthermore, I am committed to enhancing the visibility and engagement of the Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) to better support families. Through these initiatives, I aim to create a stronger, more supportive educational system that meets the needs of every student.
Please list any relevant endorsements in this race.
I do not have any official endorsements in this race, but what I do have are strong relationships built through years of advocacy, volunteerism, and collaboration across the district. From working with parents through SEPAC to supporting teachers and staff as a volunteer, I have focused on fostering meaningful connections that truly impact our schools. These relationships—formed through listening, problem-solving, and working together—matter more to me than political endorsements. My commitment is to the students, families, and educators of this district, and I will continue to serve with integrity, passion, and a genuine desire to make a difference.
