State and local officials on Friday announced that the Bexar County district attorney will prosecute Brad Simpson in the slaying of his wife, 51-year-old Suzanne Clark Simpson.

On Thursday, the Olmos Park Police Department charged 53-year-old Brad Simpson with murder one month after his wife, an Olmos Park real estate agent and mother of four, disappeared.

“We realize this doesn’t bring closure to Suzanne’s family, but we hope it will allow them to enter the next phase of their grieving process with more clarity,” said Olmos Park Police Chief Fidel Villegas.

Brad Simpson, has been “uncooperative,” Villegas said. Simpson has remained in jail, first in Kendall County, then at the Bexar County Jail, on federal charges by the ATF accusing him of owning an illegal gun.

The DA’s office will now begin its work on the prosecution phase, Villegas said.

There was enough evidence throughout the investigation that led law enforcement officials to charge Simpson with murder without his wife’s body being found, said Texas Ranger Public Information Officer Deon Cockrell.

Simpson’s arrest warrant is sealed for 30 days.

One message was emphasized at a press conference Friday: The search for Suzanne Clark Simpson will continue.

Brad Simpson’s brother, Barton Tinsley Simpson, read a prepared statement to reporters at Olmos Park City Hall expressing that the missing woman’s family, and law enforcement, still want to know where she is.

“It is our sincere hope and prayer that Brad will find the compassion and courage to end his family’s suffering by cooperating with the authorities to help us find his wife,” Barton Tinsley Simpson said.

“We couldn’t be more grateful for the support of our amazing, loving community and for everybody that’s reached out and supported us and kept us in their prayers,” he said.

Police have already searched areas in Olmos Park, Boerne and said they felt confident they would find her at a landfill in San Antonio, but those searches turned up empty.

Cockrell said law enforcement continues to search the Boerne area and other properties without help from volunteers. Tips from the public are still coming in, he said, and are still welcome.

Brad Simpson faces four other charges, including bodily injury-family violence, unlawful restraint, tampering or fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair, and a prohibited weapon-related charge, a Bexar County Records receptionist said Thursday.

His longtime business partner, 65-year-old James Cotter, was arrested on two felony charges including tampering with evidence with the intent to impair an investigation and possession of prohibited weapons.

Cotter posted bail hours before the press conference, following his bond reduction from $1 million to $100,000 on Thursday.

Suzanne Clark Simpson was last seen at a birthday party at The Argyle on Sunday night. She was wearing a long black dress and black heels. She was seen leaving, going to her Olmos Park home with her daughter.
