Under normal circumstances, all U.S. cities are open for business. There are economic development organizations across the country with sophisticated strategies and data-driven marketing plans to attract and grow businesses that create jobs and fuel their local economy. The San Antonio Economic Development Foundation (SAEDF) is among these organizations, targeting businesses to move here, and growing our local companies and workforce from within.

But right now, circumstances are anything but normal.

A few short months into 2020, we face an unprecedented challenge that will no doubt alter everything from how we run our businesses to how we shop for groceries. The national and global response to the COVID-19 pandemic can be characterized as impressive and empowering. Communities are rallying—large corporations are giving, the heroes of the medical profession are going above their already dangerous call of duty, and everyday people are doing their part to support the most vulnerable among us.

To help our San Antonio business community fully recover, SAEDF is conducting a survey to monitor the impact of COVID-19 on business operations in the region. Nationally, more than 250 economic development organizations and chambers of commerce launched the survey to collect insights and information to be aggregated into a national database on business impact. Trends will be elevated and ultimately create action.

SAEDF’s established Business Retention and Expansion team is mobilized, supporting local businesses as they navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. With your input, our team is in the unique position to use local data to lend direct business support, connect businesses to much-needed resources, and elevate our own community trends to inform our large corporations, elected officials, government agencies, and others as they develop programs and policy in response to the disaster.

San Antonio companies need to be heard. If you own or manage a local business, please take the 5-10-minute survey and tell your story. Responses are confidential and will only be reported in aggregate. If your business would like assistance, you can leave your information in your response form and a member of the SAEDF team will reach out to you directly.

During this time more than ever, SAEDF continues to connect people with new and existing resources to get through this. Your health comes first. Our SAEDF team can help with the rest.
