School supplies are stocked on store shelves and supply lists are out as the start to the school year inches closer.
A national survey released Tuesday found that parents are set to spend slightly less in fall 2024 than they did last year on the supplies, but with dozens of back-to-school events planned in the coming weeks — many supplies are available at no cost at all.
There are also opportunities for young ones to get vaccinations before summer comes to a close.
This isn’t an exhaustive list and will be updated as other events become available.

Coker United Methodist Church: Back to School Vaccinations
Vaccinations are being given to students. No appointment required, but a vaccination record is needed to get vaccines.

District 2 Back to School Fest
Councilman Jalen McKee-Rodriguez, District 2, and their community partners invite D2 residents to join them for a back to school resource fair. Free backpacks will be given on a first-come, first-served basis to District 2 children and families who live in the district and/or attend PreK4SA East. (Addresses will be cross-checked for approval!)

Harlandale ISD Back to School Bash
Attendees will be able to register their child, get their child immunized, receive free school supplies, get free haircuts, learn from dozens of organizations and more.

Backpack & School Supply Drive 7/5-8/11
Hundreds of backpacks and school supplies are available courtesy of Gunn Chevrolet, IDEA Public Schools and Rocks Discount Vitamins. The first 150 school aged children will get backpacks and supplies, while supplies last, at 17 locations at various times from 7/10-8/11.

Bexar County Constable’s Office Precinct 2: Tax Free weekend event
At the same time as tax-free weekend, the Bexar County Constables Office will be hosting an event to give away school supplies to those struggling and in need for the kids. Bexar County Constable’s Office Precinct 2 will also be onsite handing out the free items. There will be a donation box for those that may have used items in fair to good condition wanting to donate. The event will also include vendors and music.

The District 5 event will include services and activities for the whole family, including vaccinations and community resources. Must be a resident of District 5 and bring proof of address.
