A Saturday concert will showccase some of San Antonio’s local talent with BEASTMODE, a nine-artist show at Wax Club.
BEASTMODE was organized by Chris Smith, known by his stage name, DJ Crias (pronounced Cree – ahs), a San Antonio DJ for more than 10 years. Back then, DJs still used vinyl; Smith uses Serato now. He has opened for, and shared the stage with, some of the biggest names in dance music, like Mat Zo, Cazzette, Boregous, and Bad Boy Bill. You can catch DJ Crias regularly on Wednesdays at Greenhouse Rooftop and on Thursdays at The Falls. Crias will be also be DJing at the Tonyc Summer Jam at La Villita on July 3, alongside Alex Peace, Bad Boy Bill and Heavygrinder.
Other names on the BEASTMODE lineup include DJ Seven, who DJs at UTSA football games and events, and Fantastic Dan, Hivemind, and Mighty Monkz, who have all DJ’ed for large crowds of their own. Matt Ramos, also known as DJ SiaKo or just Siako (pronounced “See-Ache-O”), is a trained percussionist and the former drummer of the Austin ska band Young Costello. He does it all: he can play drums, steel drum, xylophones with double mallets, and has performed at Euphoria Fest. He also DJs and is an awesome electronic music producer.
