Please tell voters about yourself.
I am 42 years old and serve as Vice President – Acquisitions and Development for Hixon Properties. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas.
I am also a proud graduate of Alamo Heights ISD. My wife, Shannon, and I are raising our four children here, all of whom currently attend AHISD schools.
Professionally, my work focuses on long-term planning, financial \ stewardship, and delivering complex projects—skills that translate directly to responsible governance. Personally, Alamo Heights is home. It is where I was educated, where we are raising our family, and where I am deeply invested in the continued strength of our schools and community.
Please describe the relevant work experience you bring to this job and any endorsements voters should note.
My service on the Board has provided direct experience in the responsibilities and complexities of being a Trustee. That perspective – combined with my professional background in real estate development—has been particularly valuable as we advance the 2023 Bond program.
These projects represent generational investments in our schools, and I bring experience in budgeting, design, and execution to help ensure they are delivered thoughtfully and responsibly. The upcoming Junior School project is a key example, as it will significantly enhance the student experience for years to come.
I am proud to have earned the trust of this community through my service and approach to decision-making, and I would be honored to continue building on that work.
Why did you decide to seek this office and how you would approach the role?
I am seeking re-election to continue serving a district that has given so much to me and my family. Public education plays a vital role in developing thoughtful, capable citizens, and I believe strongly in protecting and strengthening it.
I am also committed to preserving local control so that decisions impacting our schools are made by those who know and care most about this community.
Finally, I want to continue contributing my experience—particularly as we execute the 2023 Bond projects—to help ensure these investments are delivered with discipline and long-term value in mind.
As a Trustee, I will approach the role with diligence, humility, and a focus on making informed decisions that serve all students and reflect the values of our community.
How would you solicit input and feedback from constituents?
AHISD benefits from an engaged and informed community, which is a tremendous strength. As a smaller district, we also have the advantage of accessibility and meaningful dialogue.
I make myself available and approachable, whether that means meeting in person, grabbing coffee, or taking a phone call. I believe direct conversation is the most effective way to listen, understand different perspectives, and build trust.
While digital communication has its place, it often lacks the nuance and context needed for productive discussion. My priority is to create opportunities for thoughtful, respectful dialogue and to ensure constituents feel heard and considered in the decision-making process.
What do you see as the biggest challenges your school district is facing
and what strategies would you want to implement as solutions?
My North Star is equipping ALL our students for success beyond their time at Alamo Heights. I want our students to feel deeply rooted in this community—grounded in its values, relationships, and sense of belonging—while also feeling confident and emboldened to pursue opportunities far beyond it, without limitation.
The district faces a range of evolving challenges that require steady, thoughtful leadership. These include navigating state funding constraints, addressing increasingly politicized pressures entering public education, and managing transitions in critical leadership roles.
My approach is to stay focused on students, grounded in our community’s values, and committed to informed, measured decision-making. By doing so, we can continue to provide an exceptional education while maintaining the character and strength of AHISD.
