Please tell voters about yourself.
I am a 43 year old dedicated educator, mother of three. My children; Emma (16) at AHHS, Elise (11) at AHJS, and Rafael (1, a future mule) give me a deeply personal and vested interest in the success of our district. With over 20 years in public education, I have served as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, and campus administrator. My career has given me a strong understanding of how schools operate on many levels and what students and educators need to succeed. I hold a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies, a Masters in Educational Leadership and am in the dissertation phase of my Ph.d at University of Texas at San Antonio. As both an educator and a parent, I bring a unique perspective—I understand the importance of strong schools not just academically, but in supporting the whole child and ensuring every student has the opportunity to thrive.
Please describe the relevant work experience you bring to this job and any endorsements voters should note.
My professional experience spans more than two decades in public education, where I have worked directly with students, supported teachers, and led instructional initiatives. As a teacher and instructional coach, I focused on improving student outcomes and supporting high-quality teaching practices. As an administrator, I gained experience in budgeting, campus operations, and collaborative decision-making. This breadth of experience allows me to understand challenges from multiple perspectives and make informed, student-centered decisions. I am proud to have earned the trust and support of colleagues, parents, and community members who value my commitment to public education. Their endorsements reflect my dedication to transparency, collaboration, and doing what is best for students.
Why did you decide to seek this office and how you would approach the role?
I decided to run for the school board because I care deeply about the future of Alamo Heights ISD and the success of every student in our district. As an educator and parent, I have seen both the strengths we can build on and the challenges we must address. I believe strong public schools are the foundation of a thriving successful community.
If elected, I will approach this role with a commitment to listening, learning, and leading with integrity. I will prioritize student achievement, support for teachers, and responsible transparent decision-making. I believe in collaboration and will work to build trust among board members, district staff, and the community to ensure we are making thoughtful, informed choices together.
How would you solicit input and feedback from constituents?
Meaningful engagement goes beyond being accessible—it requires intentional, consistent, and transparent communication. I will actively seek input from parents, students, educators, and community members through structured opportunities such as listening sessions, campus visits, and targeted surveys, in addition to being present at school and community events. With over 20 years in public education, I understand the importance of not only hearing feedback, but also ensuring it informs thoughtful decision-making. I am committed to creating multiple, inclusive pathways for engagement so all stakeholders feel comfortable sharing their perspectives.
Equally important is accountability. I will prioritize clear, timely communication about board decisions and ensure the community understands how their input is considered. My approach is grounded in listening with intention, leading with transparency, and keeping student success at the center of every conversation.
What do you see as the biggest challenges your school district is facing and what strategies would you want to implement as solutions?
One of the biggest challenges our district faces is balancing high academic expectations with the growing academic, social, and emotional needs of students. Additionally, supporting and retaining high-quality teachers while managing resources responsibly in budget remains critical.
To address these challenges, I would prioritize strong instructional support for teachers, ensure resources are allocated effectively, and advocate for programs that support the whole child. Investing in teacher development and maintaining open communication with staff will help retain excellent educators. I also believe in using data thoughtfully to guide decisions while keeping students at the center of every choice. By working collaboratively and proactively, we can continue to build on our district’s strengths and meet the evolving needs of our community.
