Jennifer Balido is a judge of the Dallas County Criminal District Court No. 1, appointed to the court by Gov. Greg Abbott on January 8, 2025. Previously she served in the Dallas District Attorney’s Office, worked in private practice, and in the Public Defender’s Office. Balido is running against John Messinger for the Republican nomination in the race to replace retiring Judge David Newell.
