Thomas Smith works in Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office, and previously worked under in Paxton’s Texas Senate office. He has a law degree from Ohio State University and was a lawyer on President Donald Trump’s Election Integrity Team.

He’s running to replace incumbent Republican Justice Bert Richardson, who is seeking a position on a lower court instead of running for reelection. Smith won the GOP nomination in a May 26 primary runoff, and faces Democrat Okey Anyiam in November.
