1. Please tell voters about yourself.
I am 52 years old and raising my family here in Bexar County alongside my husband,
Ruben. Together, we have four daughters and three grandchildren who inspire me every day to work for a stronger, more efficient, and more compassionate community. I bring 32 years of legal experience, having served in a variety of professional and political roles that have prepared me to provide effective leadership for the District Clerk’s Office.
Over the years, I have honed the skills necessary to manage complex operations, streamline processes, and ensure fairness and transparency in every task I undertake.
It is this combination of professional expertise and dedication that has helped me earn the endorsements of leaders like Sheriff Javier Salazar, former County Judge Nelson Wolff, and several members of the legal bar, such as Pat Maloney and Mary Pietrazek. I am committed to serving our community with integrity, diligence, and care.
2. Please describe the relevant work experience you bring to this job, and how you would approach the role.
I bring a combination of professional expertise, proven leadership, and deep-rooted commitment to public service. I have more than 32 years of experience as a litigation paralegal and legal administrator, I managed complex cases and oversaw operations for multiple law firms. Where I was responsible for developing and maintaining case management systems. I have broad experience in civil litigation, criminal, family and mass tort litigation which will be a valuable asset to the courthouse.
For the last seven years I have served as Chair of the Bexar County Democratic Party in which I modernized operations, increased voter turnout, and successfully administered more than seventeen elections with transparency and accountability. I bring executive-level experience in budgeting, strategic planning, and advocating for funding.
I am a descendant of Juan Leal Goraz, the first and fourth mayor of San Antonio and carry forward a legacy of civic leadership. As a working mother, grandmother, and community advocate, I have a track record of being an empathetic leader committed to serving Bexar County with integrity and competence.
3. Why did you decide to seek this office? And why did you decide to run under the party affiliation that you chose?
I am running to be your next District Clerk because I believe the office can better serve the people of Bexar County. With my professional background in managing complex legal operations, I see clear opportunities to modernize systems, expand online access to records, improve customer service, and ensure that court services are responsive to working families, attorneys, and the public.
Our community deserves a District Clerk’s office where records are secure, searchable, and available online, where language and technology are not barriers, and where residents feel respected and informed.
I am a Democrat because the party aligns with my values which include a lifelong commitment to public service, protecting women and making sure that everyone has access to the justice system. Because the justice system should work for everyone. Running as a Democrat reflects my belief in transparency, accountability, and building institutions that serve the community with integrity and compassion.
4. How would you (or how do you, if already elected) solicit input and feedback from constituents?
I believe in an open-door policy. Everyone in our community deserves to feel welcomed, heard, and respected, and I am committed to listening and responding to the needs of the people I serve. Whether you are going to court, an attorney working to serve your clients, or a member of the public needing assistance with a passport, the District Clerk’s office should be accessible, helpful, and responsive to everyone.
To ensure this, I am committed to creating a legal advisory committee made up of citizens and stakeholders who are affected by the District Clerk’s office. Their input will help guide policies and improve services. I also plan to expand access beyond the courthouse, bringing services into neighborhoods and communities across Bexar County. By making the office more approachable, transparent, and community-focused, I will ensure that every resident receives the support and attention they deserve.
