1. Please tell voters about yourself.
I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas and am 55 years old. I earned a bachelor’s degree from Wayland Baptist University, a master’s degree from St. Mary’s University, and a PhD from the University of the Incarnate Word.
I bring more than 30 years of experience in public safety and criminal justice. I am a veteran of the San Antonio Police Department, served as a U.S. Secret Service Task Force Agent, and was Chief Criminal Investigator for the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office.
Today, I own and operate Blue Armor Security Services, which provides security services for businesses, schools, churches, and residential communities across Texas. Through this work, our company has helped create more than 2,500 jobs in Bexar County and across the state. My career has been dedicated to public safety, accountability, and service to our community.
2. Briefly describe your top policy priorities.
Public safety and lowering property taxes are my top policy priorities. A safe community is a prosperous community, and we must ensure that our law enforcement officers and first responders have the resources, staffing, and support they need to protect Texans from crime and dangerous illegal activity. Public safety is nonpartisan; it is essential to quality of life, economic growth, and community stability.
At the same time, Texans should not be taxed out of their homes. Families, seniors, and small business owners are struggling under an out-of-control property tax and appraisal system. We must deliver real, meaningful property tax relief by increasing transparency, limiting excessive appraisal increases, and holding appraisal districts accountable. Texans deserve predictable and fair taxation, not year-after-year spikes that punish homeownership.
By prioritizing both safety and affordability, we can protect our communities while ensuring Texas remains a place where families can thrive and build a future. We can do this by focusing on responsible budgeting, disciplined spending, and policies that allow families to build stable futures without fear of sudden tax spikes. Protecting communities and protecting taxpayers must go hand-in-hand.
3. What would you like to see the legislature do to make Texas cities better places to live? In what ways could state officials work better with local officials?
Public safety must remain a top priority. When communities are safe, businesses grow, families feel secure, and neighborhoods thrive. The legislature should continue supporting policies that strengthen law enforcement, improve coordination between agencies, and give local governments practical tools to address crime effectively.
With more than three decades in law enforcement, I have worked closely with both state and local officials. I know that results come from coordination and accountability, not unnecessary bureaucracy. Clear communication, defined responsibilities, and cooperation across all levels of government lead to safer, more resilient Texas cities.
4. Texas has taken major steps to reshape its public education system, including allowing taxpayer dollars to fund private school tuition. What do you believe needs to happen to monitor the success of Education Savings Accounts, and to ensure every student still receives a quality education?
Texas families deserve the freedom to choose the educational option that best meets their children’s needs. As Education Savings Accounts are implemented, the state must maintain strong oversight to prevent fraud, waste, or abuse and ensure funds are used solely for legitimate educational purposes. Transparency and accountability are essential to evaluating success.
At the same time, Texas must remain fully committed to public education. Public schools educate the majority of students, and they must be properly funded. Teachers deserve the resources and compensation necessary to succeed in the classroom and should be compensated in a way that reflects their vital role in shaping our future. Expanding choice and strengthening public education can and must work together.
5. Reducing the burden of property taxes is expected to be a major focus of the next legislative session. Describe your ideas for balancing the needs of a growing state with state leaders’ desire to rein in that major revenue source?
Reducing property taxes must remain a top priority as Texas continues to grow. We need to focus on a responsible approach that focuses on using state surplus revenue to buy down school property taxes, providing immediate and meaningful relief to homeowners and small businesses. I support continuing tax rate compression, so Texans see permanent reductions, not temporary fixes.
At the same time, we must rein in the appraisal system, which has become unpredictable and burdensome for families. It needs reform. Increased transparency and reasonable appraisal limits will help protect homeowners from being taxed out of their homes simply because values rise on paper. Through smart budgeting, disciplined spending, and prioritizing core services, Texas can remain economically strong while treating property owners fairly.
