Trey Martinez Fischer is a lawyer who previously chaired the Texas House Democratic Caucus. He was first elected to the Texas Legislature in 2000, serving through 2016 when he unsuccessfully sought a Texas Senate seat. He regained his former seat in 2018 and is seeking a fifth consecutive term in 2026.
