Former City of San Antonio mayors Phil Hardberger, Ivy Taylor, Henry Cisneros and Nelson Wolff will take the stage together in a rare joint appearance at the San Antonio Report’s 2024 CityFest event this month.

In the keynote luncheon panel at the Witte Museum on Tuesday, Oct. 29, the former city leaders will discuss how San Antonians can come together during a year of divisive national politics and heading into the 2025 mayoral race. The four former mayors will also have a chance to weigh in on the city’s most pressing issues and help drive the discussion about San Antonio’s future.

Editor in Chief Leigh Munsil will moderate the discussion, which is the centerpiece of four days of dynamic live journalism in San Antonio during the last week of October.

The San Antonio Report’s seventh annual urban ideas festival will be staged in the urban core and will kick off with a discussion on the future of downtown San Antonio, in partnership with the bigcitysmalltown podcast at Texas Public Radio, moderated by Report co-founder Robert Rivard.

The breakfast panel on Monday, Oct. 28, will explore one of the hottest topics in the city — the future of San Antonio’s urban core — as City Manager Erik Walsh, Andres Andujar of Hemisfair, Centro San Antonio’s Trish DeBerry, UTSA’s Veronica Salazar and Weston Urban’s David Robinson Jr. discuss development downtown.

Sponsorships, as well as individual tickets, for the former mayors keynote luncheon event are still available.

Tickets for the “Future of Downtown” event are available for $50 — or $35 for San Antonio Report members.

CityFest attendees can also register to attend an arts and culture-themed happy hour on Wednesday, hosted at Elsewhere Garden Bar and Kitchen. Attendees can sip on beer and wine options, as well as shop a market featuring local artisans, all while enjoying live music. “Go Do That!” hosts Nicholas Frank and Bria Woods will be on hand to share upcoming events.

The final event of CityFest will be a political panel hosted in partnership with KLRN, where government and politics reporter Andrea Drusch will be joined by a panel of political experts to dig into the keys to the 2024 election.

Just days before voters head to the ballot box to select a new U.S. president — plus make their choices in everything from state House and Senate races to judicial seats and a number of local charter amendments — panelists Demonte Alexander, Gina Ortiz Jones, Laura Barberena, Kelton Morgan and Bert Santibañez will explain what they’re watching for this election season, and what it all means for local voters.

Tickets for the San Antonio Report/KLRN civic engagement event are available for $25, or free for members with registration. To become a monthly San Antonio Report member and take advantage of ticket discounts, click here.
