Dozens of lovebirds gathered outside the Bexar County Courthouse on Saturday to say “I Do” on Valentines Day. This well established San Antonio tradition has been recurring since the 1980s, offering a free mass marriage ceremony every year on the day of love. This was my first time attending the ceremony and I was immediately struck by the diversity of couples in attendance. People of all ages, backgrounds, some with families, some just starting, were present and excited to tie the knot.
After the ceremony in Main Plaza, I stopped by the Valentine’s Day Same-Sex Marriage Ceremony at the SA Country Saloon and met a happy, newly married couple.
San Antonio is an extremely romantic city and I definitely felt the love on this day.
