2016 PERFORMERS:

Beto and the Fairlanes
Saturday Nov. 12, 2016 8:30-10 p.m.
Original and refreshing Texas Salsa music – irresistibly danceable for the whole family! Beto and the Fairlanes are a world-beat, Latin pop, jazz, and salsa band known for high-flying horns and big percussion. Long established in the Austin music scene, the band has played Austin City Limits to the Armadillo World Headquarters and hundreds of stages between.

Lisa Morales
Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, 6:30-8 p.m.
Lisa Morales has made her first steps away from her sister, Roberta, and their popular duo, Sisters Morales, a beautiful journey. As it turns out, Lisa is a diva in disguise. She sings the songs of a strong, grown woman in a voice that demands you to look her in the eyes.

Shelley King
Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, 5-6 p.m.
Shelley King is a musical ambassador of the Austin sound. Her blend of original blues, rock, folk, country, soul, and gospel led her to be the first woman appointed by the Texas Legislature to represent the State as it’s Official Texas State Artist/Musician. Shelley serves up Southern blues and acoustic folk, revved-up Cajun country and rock and roll with charismatic aplomb!

Minor Mishap Marching Band
Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016 3-4:30 p.m.
Fun, loud, and in the street! Minor Mishap Marching Band is a renegade circus-punk brass band: Bourbon Street meets Budapest. They are inspired by a love of street music, brass bands, and spectacle, as well as a desire to create community and reinvent public spaces. Brassy, sassy, and gloriously cacophonous!

Dale Watson Band
Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016 1-2:30 p.m.
This Austin-based honky-tonker carries on in the tradition of Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and Willie Nelson with his “Ameripolitain” brand of American roots music. The Austin Chronicle dubbed Watson “the silver pompadoured, baritone beltin’, Lone Star beer drinkin’, honky-tonk hellraiser.” Dancin’ boots required.

Marvin Bottera & Broken Glass
Nov. 12, 2016, 11:15 am-12:30 p.m.
Marvin Bottera and Broken Glass deliver their eclectic combination of classic rock, blues, country, folk, and more – local style. Ever present when it’s time to give to their community, these good friends and seasoned players join up to play for the joy and fun of “making music happen” – and it does!

The Collie Family
Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, 10-11 a.m.
When Bruce Collie, his wife, Holly, and their 13 children aren’t running their restaurants, the Wimberley Brewing Company and Brewster’s Pizza, they double as Wimberley’s own Von Trapp family. The Collies are loved for their individual and united tribute to power of music.

Redd Volkaert Band
Friday, Nov. 11, 2016, 8:30-10 p.m.
Redd Volkaert is a true legend and one of the country’s top Fender Telecaster guitar slingers. A long-time top draw in the Austin music scene, Volkaerts shared the stage with Merle Haggard, George Jones, Dolly Parton, and Vince Gill, to name a few. In 2009 he won a Grammy for “Best Country Instrumental Performance.”

Javier Chaparro & Salúd
Friday, Nov. 11, 2016, 6:30-8 p.m.
Romantic as Antonio Carlos Jobin and virtuosic as YoYo Ma, Javier Chaparro is a renowned violinist and concert master for the Brazos Valley Symphony. Inspired by his native Peru and South America, with flares of jazz and Americana, Chaparro’s band, Salúd, is no less impressive, including Wimberley’s own Paul Glasse on mandolin (Texas Swing Hall of Fame); Mitch Watkins, guitarist for Leonard Cohen, Lyle Lovett, and Bob Schneider; and Laura Mordecai on percussion & vocals.

Grace Pettis, Kim Miller & Karen Mal with Will Taylor & Strings Attached
Friday, Nov. 11, 2016 5-6:30 p.m.
Pettis, Miller, and Mal are individually award-winning, Texas based, and tenured songwriters returning to Wimberley ALIVE! Festival, in group – with a twist: This year, they’re joined by the inimitable Will Taylor and his String’s Attached orchestra. Jazz violist Taylor and his group have collaborated with the likes of Eliza Gilkyson, Shawn Colvin, and Pearl Jam. On Friday afternoon, this talented team of friends and artists will open the musical festivities with an orchestrated triad of voice and song.

The fabulous ART part of the festival, featuring 20 juried fine artists and crafts people, continues to offer fine quality art items for the collector and just in time for year end gifts. Art booths are open on Saturday from 10 to 5. Visit the art festival, then stroll through the quaint downtown area as you visit the numerous galleries and shops that grace Wimberley. A Children’s Creative Tent will be the “spot to be” for younger visitors to the Festival on Saturday.
In 2015, downtown Wimberley was named an official Texas Cultural District. Wimberley has long been famous for its crystal clear creeks and the beautiful Blanco River, and is now getting statewide recognition for the cultural activities that abound in this small village.
WimberleyALIVE! culminates with the 30th Anniversary of the Crisis Bread Basket, Wimberley’s food bank. For the first time, Crisis Bread Basket will be hosting “EMPTY BOWLS Wimberley” to celebrate this anniversary and to bring new people into contact with this well run and vital food pantry. The EMPTY BOWLS event will be at lunchtime on Sunday, November 13, 11:00 am- 2:00 pm. Enjoy lunch while helping feed the hungry in the Wimberley Valley listening to one of Wimberley’s newest bands, Double Treble and Big Dog (with lead singer Amy Cox).
And if all this is not exciting enough, kick off your long weekend of festivities at the “SOUPER” Bowl Preview Party on Thursday, November 10, 5 pm-7 pm. The event, at the Wimberley Community Center (14068 RR 12) is FREE and open to the public. Bowls, crafted by fine potters, glass artists and woodworkers, as well as by talented Wimberley art students, will be on view to be auctioned and sold. One of these bowls is your entrance fee into the EMPTY BOWLS lunch on Sunday, and many of the bowls are sure to be collector’s items.
Admission to the concert, art and preview party is FREE thanks to the generosity of local sponsors. For those wanting to be “up close and personal” to the music, a very limited number of VIP Packages for Two will be sold for $250. VIP Packages will include lots of goodies, including preferred seating, a chance to win a guitar autographed by all festival musicians, 2 festival T-shirts, fine dining gift certificates and much more. Check the WimberleyALIVE! website for more information on purchasing the VIP packages.
