The first Friday of 2020 comes with lots of art, a drag show, and a onesies-themed pub run. Welcome 2020 with some birding, exercising with adoptable pups, and an outdoor screening of the Golden Globes on Sunday.

First Friday at Blue Star Arts Complex

It’s the First Friday of 2020, and Brick at Blue Star Arts Complex is hosting its usual arts and crafts vendors, as well as performances from Rainbow Chilton, Secret Kink, and Cruz the DJ. Head down to Southtown to check out local artisans as well as other booths.

Joey Fauerso at Blue Star Contemporary

Artist and professor at Texas State University’s School of Art and Design, Joey Fauerso puts on the final performance of her exhibition Teardowns at Blue Star Contemporary on Friday. She explores culture, gender, family, and humor as response mechanisms to our sociopolitical climate in the exhibition.

First Friday Pub Run: Onesies

The Resolution Run

Ready to kick off your New Year’s resolution to run more? Fleet Feet’s Resolution Run gives runners an hour to run as many laps around Woodlawn Lake as they can. Each completed lap earns runners a raffle ticket, and the person with the most raffle tickets wins New Balance shoes. All donations go toward Girls on the Run Bexar County. Christmas Bird Count for All

The Christmas Bird Count is a 100-year-old tradition from the Audubon Society, and Tom and Patsy Inglet will lead San Antonio’s bird count on Saturday. Bring your own binoculars or borrow a pair from the Audubon Center. RSVP by emailing MLAC@audubon.org.

San Antonio Coffee Festival 2020

The San Antonio Coffee Festival celebrates its eighth year at La Villita with more than 25 roasteries serving more than 80 different brews. A coffee flight pre-sale ticket costs $8 and includes five coffee tastings and access to coffee workshops and exhibitors. Tickets will be $10 at the gate. All-American Bowl Game and the San Antonio Sports All-Star Football Game

Ready for a double dose of high school football? One ticket will get you access to both the All-American Bowl Game at noon on Saturday, where star high school football players from across the country will showcase their talents at the Alamodome, as well as the 42nd annual San Antonio Sports All-Star Football Game at 5 p.m., featuring more than 100 student-athletes from more than 60 high schools in Bexar County and the seven surrounding counties. The All-American Bowl Game will be broadcast live on NBC. Parking at the Alamodome parking costs $20. Find tickets for the games here.

Lights Alive!

Say goodbye to the holiday season with one final drive through the Lights Alive! show, a mile-long computer-controlled and musically synchronized light show on the Far West side of San Antonio.
