Bexar County 144th state District Court Judge Melisa Skinner addresses people gathered to celebrate her swearing in ceremony, Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2020. Skinner was appointed by Gov. Greg Abbott after the seat became vacant in 2019 following the death of Judge Ray Olivarri. Skinner was a prosecutor under current District Attorney Joe Gonzales. Previously, she was the 290th state District Court judge but was defeated in the Democratic landslide of 2018.
