Who We Are
We began as the Rivard Report, a husband and wife blog that has successfully grown into a thriving online news enterprise with a year-round calendar of civic engagement events, and a full time staff of 21 talented and passionate journalists and nonprofit professionals.
Our new name reflects the evolution of a vision into reality and the subsequent years of growth as hundreds of thousands of readers in the metro area have come to trust and depend on the Report for credible, fact-based, public service journalism.
PUBLISHER AND CEO
Angie joined the San Antonio Report as Publisher & CEO in 2020. Angie was CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio from 2011 – 2020. Under her leadership, the Clubs tripled in size, serving almost 8,000 youth per year at six clubhouses and 38 school-based sites. Her career encompasses a wide variety of disciplines including marketing, operations, finance and human resources. Angie was owner and CEO of Flagstone Hospitality Management. Under her leadership, Flagstone managed 53 hotels in 26 states with over 3,000 employees. A Tennessee native, Angie and her family have called San Antonio home since 2003.
Publisher and Editor Robert Rivard is a longtime, award-winning journalist and former newspaper editor. He writes a weekly column, published Sunday on the San Antonio Report. In 2012 Robert and his wife, Monika Maeckle, founded the San Antonio Report, formerly Rivard Report. He and Monika have called San Antonio home for nearly 30 years.
Jenna Price Mallette
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Jenna Price Mallette is the Chief Operating Officer for the San Antonio Report. Before joining the team, Jenna worked with the Trinity University College Advising Corps and Robot Creative. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and a minor in Psychology from Trinity University.
Wendy Lane Cook
Wendy Lane Cook spent more than a decade at the Associated Press with bureaus in Texas and California, covering everything from state elections to natural disasters to the Olympic Games. From there she moved to The Washington Post. After stepping away from full-time journalism for some time, Wendy joined the San Antonio Report in January 2017 and became managing editor in 2021.
Iris Dimmick moved to San Antonio in February 2012. Iris was born and raised in Grand Junction, Colo. and received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Central Washington University. She served as the San Antonio Report’s first managing editor for more than six years and is now happily focused on covering City Hall and other topics as senior reporter.
SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL REPORTER
Brendan Gibbons, a prize-winning environmental reporter, joined the San Antonio Report in January 2018. He covers the environment, energy, and water issues. Previously, he worked for the San Antonio Express News and The Scranton Times-Tribune in Pennsylvania. In 2013, he graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in science and agricultural journalism.
SENIOR BUSINESS REPORTER
Shari Biediger, business reporter, has earned recognition for her writing from the International Association of Business Communicators, the Educational Press Association, Public Relations Society of America, and AdFed. She has worked for the Recorder-Times, San Antonio Bar Association, and USAA.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EDITOR
Blanca Méndez is the San Antonio Report’s community engagement editor. She hails from Eagle Pass and holds a degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Before joining the San Antonio Report, she worked in nonprofit communications, taught English in Seoul, and wrote about music and pop culture for Glamour, Rolling Stone, and Spin.
Tracy Idell Hamilton
Tracy Idell Hamilton joined the Report in June 2021, after several years running corporate blogs. She moved to San Antonio in 2004 to work for the Express-News, where she spent nine years reporting on our endlessly fascinating city. Tracy cut her teeth as a reporter at several newspapers in her home state of California before earning her Master’s at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.
ARTS & CULTURE REPORTER
LOCAL GOVERNMENT REPORTER
Jackie Wang moved to San Antonio from the state capital, where she attended UT Austin and graduated with degrees in journalism and government. She spent her formative years in El Paso, and misses the mountains every day. Jackie worked for The Dallas Morning News as a state government reporting fellow in its Austin bureau.
GENERAL ASSIGNMENT REPORTER
General assignment reporter Lindsey Carnett is a San Antonio native and the former growth reporter for the New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung. She graduated from Texas A&M University in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in telecommunication media studies, and previously worked as a videographer for the San Antonio Express-News.
Brooke Crum joined the San Antonio Report to cover education in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. She previously worked for several Texas daily newspapers, primarily focusing on education and politics, including the Waco Tribune-Herald, Abilene Reporter-News and the Beaumont Enterprise. A native of Dallas, she graduated from TCU in 2012 with a degree in journalism and philosophy.
BUSINESS & TECHNOLOGY REPORTER
Waylon Cunningham joined the San Antonio Report in December 2020. He previously worked at the Liberty Hill Independent and the Maryville Daily Times, where he wrote an award-winning investigative series on financial games in the drug industry. The East Texas native has a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Oberlin College and a master’s degree in journalism from the Univ. of Southern California.
Nick Wagner, a bilingual photojournalist and former Austin American-Statesman staffer, joined the Report in March 2021. A native Minnesotan, Wagner graduated from Western Kentucky University in 2017, and his work has landed on the front pages of the New York Times, Washington Post, and LA Times, among other publications. Bria Woods joined the San Antonio Report as the Multimedia Journalist in March 2021. Her journey with the Report comes full circle after interning with us in 2016 during her senior year at Trinity University as a Communication major and after freelancing with us in 2020. Bria earned her Master’s in Multimedia Broadcast Journalism from the University of Westminster in London. She previously worked as the Executive Digital producer at KAVU-TV. EVENTS & AUDIENCE ENGAGEMENT MANAGER
Laura Lopez is the Events and Audience Engagement Manager for the San Antonio Report. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Community Health and a Master in Public Administration from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Prior to joining the team, she interned with the development department at The DoSeum. Laura has a passion for promoting literacy opportunities for youth in San Antonio.

Advertising & Business Membership Coordinator Hannah Rhodes graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies with a focus in Arabic language and Middle Eastern cultural studies and a minor in English. She previously worked as a consultant for nonprofits in Austin, TX and interned with Refugee Service of Texas in Austin, TX.
