In addition to a two day pop-up exhibition, “6 Artists Celebrate the McNay’s 60th Anniversary,” the McNay Art Museum plans to celebrate 60 years of art, educational programming, and giving on Friday, Jan. 23 from 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. in Leeper Auditorium.
The event, McNay After Dark, is intended to engage the next generation of museum supporters and will build on already-successful events from the past year, including monthly McNay Second Thursdays, the annual Spring Party, and Have No Fear of Art: Halloween at the McNay.
“In the spirit of these events, we’re celebrating the energy and generosity of San Antonio’s young art enthusiasts who represent the future of the McNay,” said museum board trustee, Brad Parman. “Their participation in the life of the museum is invaluable – our next 60 years is in their hands.”
Attendees will enjoy specialty cocktails, a dessert bar, breakfast bites and music and dancing by the popular Dallas-based performers, Professor D.
A 10-person group, Professor D describes itself as a “dance/party/variety band” and has more than 25 years of experience, including playing at both the National Hockey League All-Star Games and the NBA Finals.
Tickets for McNay After Dark are on sale now at www.mcnayart.org/afterdark. Proceeds benefit the McNay’s 60th Anniversary Fund, which supports the museum’s educational programming and the array of ever-changing exhibitions open to the public. For more information, call 210.805.1772.
