Dear Geekdom Members:

As I have gotten older, I have recognized that my health needs to be a top priority in my life. Late last year, I began to educate myself about healthier ways to eat because – as many of you know – I am not a big fan of exercising. Early in 2017, I happened to learn that John Engates, CTO at Rackspace, had embarked on a similar health journey and had quite a bit of success with his own weight loss and health goals. I invited him to join me in my mission, and we began sharing books, videos, and podcasts that we learned from and that inspired us. We even attended a medical conference on the topic of nutrition and the low carbohydrate diet. One of the podcasts we both began listening a few months ago is called 2 Keto Dudes and we’ve gotten to know Carl Franklin and Richard Morris, co-hosts of the 2 Keto Dudes podcast. John and I have become huge fans in a short period of time.

I wanted to share my excitement with all of you so I have invited the 2 Keto Dudes to speak to you and share their personal story. They both found themselves diagnosed as Type 2 diabetics and were driven to a healthier lifestyle.

They will come to share statistics and speak to you about how we as a nation are becoming sicker and unhealthier, and the solutions we have do not seem to be working.

Currently, they have more than 100,000 listeners. I encourage you to listen to them and learn more about them prior to their presentation. In addition, for those of you who are interested in comparing your results to the U.S. population, I encourage you to get a free blood test that I will personally be paying for. It’s a simple blood test that will give you your results in six minutes. It will include fasting glucose, fasting insulin, an average glucose over three months (HbA1c), and a lipid panel.

The blood tests will be administered on Wednesday, July 19 2017 from 1-4 p.m. on the 7th floor in the Duck Hunt Conference Room (Geekdom members only) and the presentation is July, 20, 2017 at 10 a.m. in the Geekdom Event Centre. (The presentation is free and open to the public.)

I am excited to share my healthier lifestyle with all of you.  I hope to see many of you on Thursday for the presentation.
