This weekend features a First Friday and a Second Saturday, so there’s lots of art to browse. Don’t forget to check out the first San Antonio African American Book Festival and the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, which opened this week.
Family Flashlight Night
The San Antonio Botanical Garden is open for night-time visitors on Friday. Bring a flashlight to find night-blooming plants, navigate through a light maze, and sample tasty treats. There will also be a food truck on-site for participants to purchase food. Tickets follow general admission rules; members may attend for free. First Friday: Zarabande

Gordita Eating Contest
Doña Tota is hosting a gordita-eating contest on Sunday evening. Contestants have three minutes to eat as many gorditas as they can, and the winner will earn the champion title and free food, merch, and a small cash prize. San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo
There’s plenty to do at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. Check out the charreada, high-speed pig races, Rodeo After Dark, and don’t miss mutton bustin’! Tickets for the arena start at $20 and children ages 2 and younger may attend for free. If you just want to explore the fairgrounds, tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for children and seniors.
