Thousands flooded the streets of downtown San Antonio on New Year’s Eve for the annual firework display, Celebrate San Antonio, that benefits the San Antonio Parks Foundation. This year, the fireworks welcomed the newly opened Yanaguana Garden into the 2016 downtown landscape.

I traveled from the carnival- and concert-filled streets of downtown near Hemisfair to the peaceful family backyard of a Southtown residence. I eventually ended up on an Eastside warehouse rooftop where I set up just in time for a photograph of the main firework show. The view was amazing and surely one of the best in town. The company of good friends always adds warmth to a brand new year.
