The Classen-Steubing family has agreed to sell 204 acres of their ranch to the City of San Antonio. This is one of the last major, undeveloped parcels of land on the North Side, and it’s over the sensitive Edwards Aquifer recharge zone.

Mayor Ivy R. Taylor, Councilman Joe Krier (D-9) and key City staff have been working with the family to acquire the property, off U.S. 281 and Loop 1604. If City Council approves the agreement, most of the property will be maintained as green space, and the rest – about 39 acres – would be set aside for sports fields and hike-and-bike trails.
